Blood pressure is the force of blood against the walls of arteries as the heart pumps blood. The blood pressure in the circulation is mainly because of the pumping action of the heart. The heart pumps blood into the blood vessels, which carry the blood throughout the body.

High blood pressure is also called Hypertension.Low blood pressure is called hypotension in medical terms.Hypertension is dangerous as in this case the heart has to work harder and pump more blood, which results in hardening of arteries. It may result into death.

A blood pressure reading has a top number and bottom number. The ranges are:
  • Normal: Less than 120 over 80 (120/80)
  • Pre hypertension: 120-139 over 80-89
